Create Your Media Room
Media rooms are a great gathering place for family movie night, for some hot competition in the ultimate gaming experience or just somewhere to come back to listen to music and surf the Internet. Here are some tips on setting up your perfect music and home theater environment.
What do you need
You can have a very affordable home theater with a setup as simple as a television, a pair of stereo speakers and a DVD player. But normally a Home Theater is a little complicated if your goal is twofold-one is on a smaller scale, of course, the integration of picture, drama and sound you experience in the cinema.
Surprisingly, even a basic home theater system can deliver remarkably enhanced playback of DVDs, videos and even TV shows like "CSI" or "Smallville" are recorded and broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.
A Basic Home Theater System consists of a pair of front speakers on either side of the TV, one Center-channel speakers to anchor the top (or bottom) of the TV actors' dialogue on the TV screen, a pair of small surround speakers on each side of your seating, that to take all effects and ambient sounds of a movie or TV show, and film music. Most home theater systems add a subwoofer for deep bass sounds. This is in all six speakers, but they do not have to be large. You need to add a Dolby Digital surround sound audio / video receivers, all the necessary Contains circuits.
Electronics stores are happy to help you figure out what works best in your home ..
The big question: What type of TV?
CRT direct-view ": The original TV technology has been refined set in the past half-century into an impressive and affordable Level. However, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) decided that all TV stations in the United States must convert to digital broadcasts and switch their analog channels by 2009. Your old CRT TVs do not receive the digital broadcasts without a special set-top adapter. Digital CRT sets deliver stunning high-definition images even though the maximum screen size is about 40 centimeters limited. Most digital cable boxes and small dish satellite tuner be able to receive HDTV (with an upgraded dish). Big Screen CRT sets use rear projection (RPTV), which looks best in dimly lit or darkened rooms, although new RPTVs are remarkably bright.
Plasma Panels: Three to five inches thick and 42 to 60 inches on the diagonal of the screen are flat plasma panels so bright they can be in a well lit room view, and they remain clear and light over a wide viewing angle. However, they use a lot of power to run quite warm and are subject to burn-in, if you're not careful (an image permanently on the screen imprinted).
LCD Flat Panel Monitor: An LCD flat screen is like your computer screen, with a maximum screen size of over 37 inches. LCD Monitors are capable of very precise color and HDTV resolution but still have difficulties LCDs produce a true black, and they are not as visible on a wide angle.
DLP and front projection TV: The latest. DLP is remarkably compact and bright images with blacks, that the equal treatment of plasma and better than LCD based displays. DLP is still a new technology, and some images may be the subject of a "rainbow" effects.
Select the right screen size for Your space
Where you sit determines the clarity of the image on the TV. If all that you are seeing real HDTV images, you can sit as close as twice the diagonal screen size - About 8 feet away for a 46-inch or a bit more for a 50-inch diagonal screen. But until the final conversion to all-HDTV is complete, many of your Television can also conventional analog television, and the images look awful up close.
If you watch regular non-HD TV sitting too close to the big screen, you see all the defects. Figure on three times the screen size as the minimum viewing distance of standard TVs. So if you are a 60-inch diagonal screen want, you should be 15 meters away, his regular TV and still look to be satisfied with the picture. For HDTV or DVDs, the picture at this distance is large.
Comfortable seating
Of utmost importance in your media room is the quality of seating. You know you'll sit there for at least the duration of the Game or film. And it is often the place where you will come to relax, so make sure lying or sitting dedicated theater that allow you to see the screen in the Way that is most convenient for you.
A note of caution with media room furniture:
If you put a tower speakers (or a bookshelf model) in a Wall unit, dresser, or entertainment center, the way the sound bounces the surfaces in the cave's wall unit may be some sound anomalies and unmusical colorations . Generate Of course, if your partner hates you look great speaker and get them hidden, you will probably not even notice the slight difference in the sound.
Have fun.
I have a friend with a real home theater, complete with gold ropes at the entrance and a red velvet curtain that rushes on the big screen . Show It is truly an experience to watch those soft lounging sofas and "Lost." . . and the popcorn is free!
